Mursing journal #4

So today I was team leader. Basically what that means is I do everything the same but more responsibility. But anyways so I get assigned to work with the charge nurse. So my two patients are a 16 year old girl and a 15 year old girl. One had their stomach shrunken (gastric bypass) and the 15 year old has cystic fibrosis. So basically both are just normal looking kids and one with a rare disease that needs to be tuned up every so often. So I did my vitals of them and waited for my nurse to be my chaperone because I didn't feel comfortable doing anything by myself with two young girls without a witness. I also expected some bratty girls, since from my experience, people that have been hospitalized for a while or come in often get a little too comfortable. So I didn't want to deal with all that by myself. Well, my nurse was in a BLS class so I had to wait. Well this other nurse was pmsing today and decided to tell me to go do my assessment and blah blah. I didn't mouth off because it's friday and I didn't care that some dumb nurse was yelling at me. So eventually my nurse came back and i did my assessment. It's weird because they both had make up on and one was even fully dressed. I'm used to patients just so sick of coming to the hospital that they just don't care how they look. Also surprised me because they're both well behaved. One had her dad there who is a doctor at the hospital, and the other just was really polite. So the day went pretty well after expecting a lousy one from the vibes of that moody nurse. I couldn't make the usual sarcastic comments that I usually do since teenagers can understand it. The only awkwardness I could make was talking about their pooh. I love talking about my pooh. I think it's a medical thing.
